Beautiful Boy,

I missed the mailboat Monday with my Sunday letter which is just as well as I can now put with it a Monday play. As you’ll see, it marks a return to the verismo-metasymbol type play of the post mid-thirties, with an incipient Burglarian resolution. I need scarcely point out to you that Kitty’s role is that of the Group Over-Conscious. With that clue, the rest will fall easily into place. (While finding Jung basically anti-pathetic, not to say wrong, I do think we should take what we can of his “useable past,” don’t you?)

Ho hum.

A note on flight, or tomorrow’s travel: F’s sister Nancy arrived here by plane yesterday. She flew from somewhere to Bangor, and then took the cutest little red water-landing plane from there here. It looked prettier than Redwing herself when it came out of the sky and landed on the bay. And cost a mere 14.00 (Bangor-Great Spruce Head, of course; I don’t know what NY-Bangor fare is). Doubtless you would find it dear, but oh boy it sure beats all for class. (In fact, if I should sell my novel while here, I’d be tempted to return that way with you: the fare for two is 16.50. But how can I dare tempt fate by even thinking about selling my novel? oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh)

I must stop this or I’ll miss the mailboat again.
